Question for rotary experts.

The car is a 87 GXL n/a with 111k miles..the car has all maintanance items replaced, plugs, oil, fuel filter, etc..heres my problem, after i replaced the plugs and had a ny state emission inspection done, the plugs start fouling really bad, so i figure i must be running rich, but if i was running rich than wouldnt the car fail? i also notice the cars stumbling ALOt more in most of the rpm ranges..could this be possibly linked to a bad o2 sensor..

unless you have a ecu code or check engine light on I'd say probably not..... What condition are the wires in? One could be bad and not fire the plug right, therfore the plug is fouling because non of the fuel isn't burning off the plug.....understand? I bet thats it......Look for a rip or arc when the car is running.

Indeed check the wires, coils, and even make sure the leading wires go to the leading plugs and vice versa (I know, I know, shut up, I'm tired).

i know to off course match leading to leading, trailing to traling..but is there any special order for the plugs to go with the wires..for example T1,T2 L1 L2. does it matter if i mxed up the wires

of course it matters. and to check for rip in the wire look at the wires at night. if you see like some light in the wires that where it could be **** up.

T1 wire goes to front spark plug
t2 goes to the rear
L1 goes to front
L2 goes to rear

It doesnt matter if you want to get your car rolling it matters if you want it running reliably

are you fouling the leading or trailing or both plugs?

check the coils you can just take an old plug and put it in the spark plug wires and crank the engine to see if it sparks. if it does then you know that isn't it.

then i'd check your o2 sensor you can do this by placing the + probe of a multi meter on the body of the sensor and the - probe on an engine ground while the car is running and at normal operating temp. it should fluctuate between .9-1.0 k volts if it's way over or if it doesn't move at all then you should replace it.

try those
