question about the 2nd gen badges

i was wondering how the badges on the back of the car are on there, specifically the mazda one. does it have tabs coming out the back and through the body or is it just glued on there?

Badges on the rear are connected to the body with thru tabs.
If you pop them off, you'll have holes staring at you.

Thumbs up

In 1986 there were two decals on the back of the car. "RX-7" and "MAZDA". So there were no holes. About 86 1/2 the cars were changed and the "MAZDA" decal deleted and the badge was added. Then in 1987 both decals were deleted and an RX-7 badge was added, so there would be holes on each side. Your car is an 86 1/2 or early 87.

No, that is not correct.

The actual Mazda RX-7 badges did not appear until the 88 model year. Both the 86 and 87 had a sticker on the drivers side.

Use an epoxy to fill the coles and then bondo over it to make it smooth. I think my dad use to use JB weld for such things...

yup, i checked the mazda badge, it is plastic and has holes, but its on the right side and there arent any holes filled in on the drivers side so the rx7 one must have been a sticker like markperez has, but my sticker is gone.

the 'rx7' on the rear, the 'mazda' on the front and the 'turboII' on the sides are all stickers. the 'mazda' is plastic.. it does seem odd, one side sticker and on the other side plastic. kinda looks wierd to me.

its because you have an 87, my 88 has plastic embalms on the drivers side and passengers side.
