i pulled my ecu using a multimeter, cos the engine check light way was't workin but i dont' understand what i've got

the sequence goes in volts

0.11-0.18-0.08-0.00---0.16-0.15-0.06-0.03-0.09-0.16-0.14-0.05-0.03-0.10-0.00---0.17-0.18-0.10-0.18-0.10-0.17-0.18-0.02-0.17-0.01-0.00-0.15-0.06-0.03-0.00---0.05-0.18-0.14-0.00---0.16-0.12-0.02-0.05-0.00---0.01-0.18-0.17-0.01-0.00---0.14-0.06-0.03-0.09-0.15

It's not how much voltage is put out... it's the pattern it's put out in... assuming you've got the same circuit that powers the light.

You'd be watching for a certain number of long spikes, followed by some short spikes... that would be the tens place, then the ones place for the short ones.

The FSM fuel & emissions section has the exact timing spaces.

The code circuit is ***-backwards electrically, like many other circuits on the car. At the ECU, if you're reading 12 volts, the light in the circuit (if you had them installed) would be OFF. The ECU "drops" the ground to turn the light on, hence you would read 0 volts at the pin at the ECU. Make any sense?

If you have an S4, it isn't much trouble at all to install the code lights, then deciphering the codes is a no-brainer. The writeup is in the FC3S,org site, I believe, or in Hugues's site. Can't remember...Gettin' like Hailers in that regard

Shouldn't you be able to ground a plug somewhere and have the lights flash the code then???

Got the FSM?
