hmmm my tires say 40 psi max. But there are 4 tires and only 2 rotors so ... maybe its more like 80 per rotor. But the best answer is always capital 12.

SOOOO do u mean compression tester psi reading? or how much pressure your thumb in the sparkplug hole can take? Or what psi a rotor can take before it implodes into a starfish?

great second post. wow

seeing how this is your first car and your.... 16ish (just a guess but ... we will see how close it is) I think an rx7 is a little bit much for you. First do you have the extra $2000 a year to maintain the rx7? (not including gas and oil) $2000 you say! no way! hmmm trust me yes it will happen. First goes the tranny, countless tires, if your lucky it will take 6 months to pop your NA motor with 160k miles on it. (DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED on a t2 rx7 hahaha)

You need to find a car that will get cha to highschool and back more then 70% of the time. I see you in more of a honda civic, or ... yellow VW beatle. maybe a saturn even .. oooo perfect 85 caprice classic. (haha my first car :P )

Trust me I am saving you a lot of $ and frustration. (or saving your parents $ at least) This scene isnt for you. At the very LEAST get a 240sx. Also I think you would have better lucky spelling piston... the word rotor seems to be above you.

Awesome, seeing how you know what a drive shaft is and successfully spelled rotor I nod my head to you. Continue your rx7.
*nods*

haha

You have to agree though, that an rx7 is not for the faint at heart or anyone that doesn't have a stable income/source of $.

Now I am in no way saying I am the know all of rx7s, but if I can help save one abused rx7 project car that NEVER gets finished, then my job is complete.

aah well thank guys but you still cant change my mind about a rotory engine, and i was talkin about the compression psi rateing. and to point our 1. i already have a car. but i thought i wouldnt put it up there because its a toyota and this is a mazda forum. 2. i know what i was getting into by getting a 7 and im not a regular guy who just decided on a whim that i wanted an rx7, ive looked at all the other cars im interested in, 240sx, trueno, and i thought that i might get a rx7 because of the rotory engine and the almost perfect 50/50 weight ratio from front to back. correct me if im wrong but if i have a rx7 or not should stop me from make/regestering here. and last, you guys dont know what is happening in my life. infact i wanted a rx7 as a project car, and i was prepared for the time/money to do this. you guys dont know what is going on in my life. and i am trying to get a hold of a rx7. (88 gxl) but hey w.e right? i asked a simple question and got flamed for it. said sorry if it was a noob question. dont even care if it was right but just wanted to know....

w.e ill just use google or something or ask my auto shop teacher....

sounds good to me. But seriously 99% of the first 200 questions your going to even THINK about asking have been talked about 1000's of times already. Google and the little search button on the top of the forum are your friends. And YES how to compression test and what reading you should see on a good motor have been talked about.

Don't listen to any of these guys, I bought my RX-7 when I was 18 and it's been a journey but a fun one. As long as you have something else to rely on for transportation you should have no problem owning an NA or turbo.

Read the archive and the FAQ, and download an online FSM for the year you buy and a haynes manual.

It's an addicting car.

Edit: BTW the replacement limit is 85, look for a car that has at least 100PSI on both rotors, 130 is new.

Whatever you do, DO NOT bring up buying the car for your "drifto" runs around the neighborhood. Also, good luck in the lounge, welcome to the club.

Edit: I'm bringing that up cause we get a lot of kids just getting their licenses wanting to buy Rx7's for the drift scene. Not saying this is your plan or singling you out.

rotary?, don't let some of these questionable posts turn you off. The second gen is a reliable car, and you won't need a bazillion bucks a year to keep it running. Now, if you decide to start modding, then god knows what you will spend. But, I have five RX7's, and not counting mods, I don't put two grand a year in all of them for repairs. Now, mods, that's a whole different story.

And for someone who gives you a hard time about spelling, check out this grammar:
"Also I think you would have better lucky spelling piston"

People in glass houses.......

Oh, and for the transmissions; I am on RX number six, and I have yet to replace a tranny. Maybe I just don't abuse them as much as some people, but I have yet to break one. I also have owned an RX for the last twenty seven years, so I am not a noob.

thanks tehmonkay, hanman and tr4c3 for all you help. i will cheak the engine psi rateing. just wanted to know because i found a Turbo II engine with rateing of Front rotor had 34psi and the rear rotor had 94psi. which i thought was a bit fishy. was to lazy to hit the search button and just asked. but yeah i was thinking about getting this engine. fix it up and put it into my gxl and just work on it a little bit at a time. realy wasnt thinking about finishing it by my senior year. (im a sophmore.) the gxl was being sold to me for like 300 buxs so i thought it would be realy cheap to fix it or just something to play around with. its purpose is a track car or maby a car to drive on the friday/weekends.

Why does everyone hate drifting so much? It's just to have fun.
