Cool.
I'm not a fan of mounting the FPR against the firewall. IRC it might be against NASA or something regulation as well. BUT I heard something like that a while ago.
I placed mine on the drivers strut tower. May be a tight with with your IC piping.

meh, probabally woulden't add more than 5-8 lbs, too little to be concerned with if that is what he did. expecially with more power, yeah baby, yeah....

edit, i think it's sad after all that work you did, and were getting vamped about just the removed mouldings, lol. i'll try to look at those plugs for ya, although icemark would probabally know what they are off the top of his head or something, lol...

As for the Solo divisions, I'm really not sure. Again though, I don't think any tech inspector would notice it, unless they were familiar with the stock layout of an RX-7, and a lot of them aren't. The rules change every year, and the complete rulebook can be found at the link below - I am on dial-up so I couldn't download it (13 megs!). It depends highly on what class you want to race in (you are pretty much eliminated from the stock classes anyway). Again though, the tech inspectors will most likely only look under the hood to determine the engine size and manufacturer, presence of a turbo, and other obvious things. They will not notice this, but I wouldn't say anything about it either. My advice... find a mailing list for an SCCA Solo group in a completely different part of the country than you are, and ask someone on the list about it. You will more than likely start a huge discussion over minor technicalities, but that way, you don't alert anyone in your area

I used to trace fuel lines, intakes and so on, to look for abnormalities, but that was just to be a bitch, and because I was also competing that year. I think there is now a rule that the tech inspectors can not be competitors. I will admit to reclassing cars on minor (but valid) technicalities to avoid having to compete with them, and I recall one sunny winter day I had a guy re-install his back seats before I would let him enter in the production class. Of course, other people alerted me to that one, and it was an obvious rules violation. It is all very tricky, and classing a car is based on what you can and can't get away with. We all try to do things we think will not get noticed. I had a lightweight flywheel and some other minor things in my Subaru (so did two other people), which is a clear violation of the P-GT class rules, but nobody ever said anything, even after they knew about it.
you must tell us how you did the moldings! and also what you will do about the bumper moldings. and where in ohio you are. also, clean that bitch! it looks like its shiny under all that dust/dirt!

I am in columbus, ohio. I actually did the mouldings last year...i used bondo which i know isnt the best way to do this. I havent noticed any cracks yet but if it does crack ill fix it, no biggie. If you notice when it gets to the bumper on the back i sanded it down to smoothly transition to the back piece. On the front fender i just straight took off the whole piece. I know i need to clean it...There are a bunch of kids in our garage that are obsessed with hondas and all they do is body work all day, its really annoying. Im waiting until i get it pretty much finished to totally clean EVERYTHING
