Project: Logicon to 626 AC

I just bought a 2001 626 Ac controller. It was only 2 dollars. I really hate the logicon and I already figured how to get the cold to heat to operate and the fan controller.

I am thinking of a way to operate the buttons now.

I am guessing The Rx-7 logicon uses some sort of arm to release a depressed button when a unpressed button is tiggered. The 626 logicon seems to work based off a chip or relay.

So suggestions would be helpful.

I am also going to install the swing feature for the vents also. Thats in the future.

Yeah, I have been wanting to convert a late '90s 626 logicon to work myself (the 626 has the oscillating center vents, one of best features ever added on a climate controls system), but I haven't spent the time yet on figuring out all the wiring and operational differences.

The FC logicon is simply transistor or Mosfet (depending on generation) drivers, that switch a motor. The switches are simple NO dual contact latching switches, that feed to the logic circuit of the logicon. As with all array switchs, they can be set up to release the other switch. But the switching is not really related to FC Logicon operation other than to switch a circuit on. There are no mechanical devices such as arms inside the logicon. Touch switches would work the same way.

Your best bet would be to get the wiring diagram for the 626 and compare wiring, as I am sure it will be very simular and using typical Mazda actuators.

So a push button switch should work(626 buttons). I thought the FC logicon buttons actually stayed depressed and closed a circuit. I will research more.

Has anyone seen the Japanese climate control FC logicon? Has real "climate control" settings, plus a digital temp display and a few other nice things. I have been trying to get my hands on one, but they seem to be fairly rare...

Icemark...your 100% right! The buttons are just like push buttons, but I found out why they lock in on the rx7 logicon. The button actually needs to be depressed for a while to allow the actuator to fully complete its travel for the internal vents/valves. If I change to the 626 buttons I would actually have to depress and hold the button for 2 to 3 seconds. What can i do to avoid having to hold it.
