They are from Coast Fabrication. They sell top-notch stuff.
http://www.coastfab.com/home.html
Here is the link to their "Aero-Catch Hood Latches"
http://www.coastfab.com/aerocatch.html
They have some cool animations showing the mechanical operation of how they work.
http://www.aerocatch.com/
They are made of some high-tech polymer and are only available in black. I just received mine yesterday and they are excellant quality. I was hoping to paint them to match the car but after seeing them in person, I think that would be a bad idea.
They offer two types:

1. Plus-Flush latch (which I got) which mounts on top of the hood and is available with or without locks.

2. Flush latch that mounts to the hood from underneath and is also available with or without locks.

They are not cheap at around $100 a pair shipped.

Check out the examples they use to show proper installation

The cool thing about the locks is that I will be able to lock them when out and about as a daily driver. Then, when I'm out on the track, I can close/latch them just the same but not have to lock them which would be an inconvienence when racing...especially if there was an engine fire.
For example, these e-bay and Mr.Gasket type locking hood pins (shown below) will only secure the hood when locked, not to mention I wouldn't trust those crappy pins to hold my hood down anyways as I no longer have the stock hood latch.

It's starting to look really nice, and very wide. As everyone else has said, the rims are freakin sweet. Best looking hood latches I've ever seen too.

The price is about what I expected, not too terrible considering how neat they are. Are you ditching the factory hood latch?

Stock hood latch was ditched a long time ago. I was using the regular ol' hood pins until now.

It shouldn't be too bad. I know someone with a 3rd gen who drives around on 285/30/18 R compounds up front and he has no problem. He and I have both removed the ps pumps and drive around with the ps rack non-assisted and have no problems. Parking is the only time it really gets tough and it's not that bad.
Besides, I have a new manual rack sitting in the garage if I need to make it easier but I do not want to give up the tighter ratio of the ps rack.

Some new pics.
Fenders still need a bunch of work but are coming along nicely.
The side moulding along the doors has been filled in and also along the fenders. Bumpers have yet to be done.
Also, the gaps between the fendersa and the tires will be improved upon from what is seen here.

Some more. Here you can see how much more the rear tires stick out of the stock quarter panel.

Yeehaw.

So are you going to put a cage in that thing? I'd think that the force those tires can generate would put some serious stress on the chassis.

Since this is a street car and a convertable to boot, I will not be putting a cage in it.
However, I do track the car once once a month or so and am required to have rollover protection, which I do. Currently I have the Kirk Racing roll hoop and it will be modified with a harness bar and diagonal bracing from each upper corner to the transmission tunnel. Additionally, there will be a triangulated door bar on each side. Basically, think of the lower case "y" laying on it's side and the single point going to the footwell with the other end near the base of the hoop. The leg of the "y" will connect a bit more than halfway up the hoop where the harness bar ties in. This way I will have improved side impact protection, stiffer chassis and have it all very unobtrusive so the gf can get in and out easily.

The convertables have little if any room to go towards the back of the car from the main hoop and have the top remain functional in a practical way. Most if not all verts you see with hoops and bracing going to the rear stru tower or thereabouts have to remove the targa top before you can lower the top. PITA imho.

That was the short answer....

Now that its taken shape, I'm really starting to like it... It looks awesome... Keep up the great work. Now you just gotta make some nice power, to actually make all that wideness necessary or atleast justifiable.

Well I went up on Monday to check out the car. I had to resign to the fact it will not be done by Sevenstock. However, the bodywork will be done, at least for the most part, and the car will be sprayed with primer which just happens to be white like the finnished product will be. I will be trailering it home on Tuesday so I can get the ball rolling on other things to get it down to Sevenstock.

I need to plumb in and wire up the new fuel system. I got the dual Walbro intank setup from PTP Motorsports. Should be a piece of cake. Nice piece btw.
I also need to chase down a short that pops my tailight/dashlight fuse evertime I turn on the headlights. Kinda makes it hard to drive at night, not to mention a target to get pulled over or rearended.
Clean the bitch.

I talked to Steve Kan today and he should have my motor back to me by the end of next week so I can install it next weekend and have a week to break her in and work out any kinks. Install should go smoothly as nothing has changed under the hood fvrom it's previous setup with the exception of the main fuel line (was -6an and will be -8an).

Also, we have decided to make molds of the fenders after several people have expressed serious interest in getting some. Of course they will be a reasonable price as I know 2nd gen owners aren't the richest of crowds.

A few new pics. The fenders are just about done and you can see the modified Demonspeed splitter on the front bumper. Also, there is a shot of what used to be fc3s.org sideskirts mocked up. They will push out the rocker a few inches and help the doors not look so flat against the monster flares.

Man, that seven looks like it has glandular problems, or has been abusing the steroids! (But in a good way!) I can't wait to see it finished, that's going to be one monster Seven. You're doing some quality work there.
