Progress on my Turbo/NA...pics...please, i need opinions and info; take a look.

Ok, as some of you may know, ive been doing a turbo/NA deal, Im trying to do it somewhat similar to aaron cake. I got this turbo/manifold for 90$ shipped because they guy bought this junk car or something for the core, and didnt need the turbo. There is barley any shaft play from side to side and everything looks OK to me, aside a small crack in the manifold.

This is what I have pics of:
Cleaned things up a little bit.. I put the cleaned up stock oil return line on (used a gasket, plus gasket maker/sealer) and on the end of the return line, i bolted a return flange and sealed it with high temp gasket maker. And am planning to put a 90º attackment pointing straight down, from there ill run a fuel line to the oil pan down below to drain since is gravity fed (correct term?) For the oil feed, im just goign to get it from the racing beat oil pressure/temp guage adapter that fits under the oil filter... Im still waiting for my feed flange in the mail. What is a "restrictor" and why do i need it?
I cleaned off the coolant feed/return lines a bit, cleaned the threads and the washer, and put everythign back together. I ran water through them with the hose to clean it out a little (hose had a small nozzle so i could fit it in the line) and checked for leaks and such, but I didnt see any, so i guess everything is good there. Im planning on clamping heater hose to the feed/return lines and I'm probably going to run the feed/return from the lines that went to the throttle body before i did the TB mod.

And you can see my aaron-style spacer isnt done yet, but the flanges are there..

Anyways, please, if any of this is a bad idea/done incorrectly.. whatever just make comments and suggestions on what i should do...I already know i SHOULD be using SS braided for oil, but this is only temporary.
And feel free to tell me what else i should check for/clean up if anything comes to mind...
thanks

I bought the flanges from mazda tricks, around 40$ shipped, im going to do like aaron cake did here: http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/naturbo4.htm
He got his from racing beat.. I just chose mazda trix for no reason, they both provide good service. And the flange was kthe same price...
Any more comments? I need some criticism plz

Well, not a lot to comment on really. It's just at turbo.

As for the restrictor pill, you don't really need it. If you are tapping from the oil filter pedistol, then it should be restricted enough as it is.

Well, thats not entirely true, I'm having trouble with too much oil pressure in the turbo causing it to blow oil through to exhaust side. You should start with some 3mm AN feed line from the oil pedestal and make sure that the oil return is at a downward angle to assist in the gravity oil return. If you blow smoke, you'll know that you need a restrictor or possibly a rebuilt turbo.

If i cover the oil feed line with my finger, and blow through the return line, a tiny tiny bit of air seems to be escaping through the exhaust side of the turbo.. why is this?

How are your oil seals (on the turbo)? I ran full pressure from the oil cooler and didn't have a problem with bypass...Even the stock engine runs it nearly at engine oil pressure (it gets it's oil feed from the top of the front iron through the dowels).

Yeah true.. But i dont really know what to check fore, besides froze up WG actuator/WG lines and shaftplay, is there any way to test the seals?

It's been freshly rebuilt with the restrictor pill left in place.

The HT18S has an internal restrictor that you can't remove IIRC, at least on the S4's anyway, i'd assume the S5 would be the same.

They need to work on full engine oil pressure to squirt the oil at the bushing.

If it's smoking then there is another problem.

Like Aaron I ran full oil pressure to my S4 turbo from the oil cooler, no problems.
