Profec B plumbing?

what vacuum lines to I plumb the actual valve into? do I intall the Greddy valve where the turbo solinoidvalve is? ref page 4B-43, and 4B-54 in the FSM. so that would basically bypass the original solinoid valve. is that right?

I already plumbed the vac hose to the main unit off my boost gauge feed. all I need to know is where to install the Greddy valve unit.

thank you for your help,
Ryosuke

yes you override the turbo soloniod valve, you plug the valve into the wastegate and the plug in the turbo right at the end (they were connected before by a solid line on your turbo with another line coming off to go to the soloniod). it says it all in the directions.

right, it says to bypass the soloniod but I'm wondering if I can just bridge it right at the "rats nest" next to the driver's side strut/shock... that would save alot of tubing and basically keep the system the same except for the controlability of when the wastegate opens.

am I way off base and leaving something important out or would this be ok?

thank you again for all your help,
TR

the 2 tubes connect right to the turbo and the waste gate. you should remove that soloniod all together, if anything you can just increase the boost enough to get back to 7.5 if you're running too rich. (all the soloniod does is increase the boost from 5.5 to 7.5

eagle I hate to be a pain, but could you describe in a bit more detail where these tubes you are talking about are located? I belive from the drscription that one of them is the metal tube that goes to the wastegate actuator. it is metal then once it is further away from the turbo (right behind the UIM, Passenger side) it turns to rubber and makes a 90* turn toward the driver's side of the car and dissapears under the UIM. I'm guessing that is one of them...

is the other one the tube that come right out of the front of the compressor housing? small rubber tube... not sure how i can describe that one better, sorry.

thank you,
TR

the other hose goes to a soloniod valve that's mounted right near the oil fill cap, you should be able to find out where it is in the FSM, there are 2 hoses going to it, the other hose comes back and connects to the intake, just unplug that one and plug it up (on the intake).

it's pretty strait forward.

negative, this is an S4 turbo, but it looks like the same setup on my turbo comp housing. if i could fit my digital camera down there i'de have a macro pic of the housing for you.

that drawing really does help though. it pretty much confirms what I though earlier. as for the open hoses now, would i just simply cap those off, and be done with them?

thank you very much,
TR

I didn't think S4s have the turbo soloniod thing.... so you shouldn't have that 3rd line...

nope, you're right. just looked. it just looks like there is a dashpot next to the wastegate actuator, but everything else looks about the same, and they go to the same places.

oh ok then, don't worry about anything I said about it then, and about the intake...

just connect those lines to the soloniod instead of each other.
