Problems w/ Starting

I just replaced my starter thinking it was the problem and it worked, my car started the first time. Then, i came back to it a few hours later and tried starting it, but it wouldnt start. All it did was make a clicking sound. No turn over or anything. I popped the clutch and it started: i tested the starter at Autozone and it tested fine.
??????????

Bad battery cable or connectors.
Maybe corroded battery posts.
Look for bright shinny metal-to-metal contact.

A bad connector or cable will get warm when you try to start it.

Same thing with my 86, try lookingat the connection of the pos battery cable at the starter and see if there is any exposed wire. clicking could be an arch from battery cable.

not coroded battery posts...mine does the same thing...i turn the key switch and nothing..just a click. I thought it would be the starter but you say it is not..so now i guess its the ignition switch. My lights and everything else works, just engine does not turn over. After a few tries then it works.

crap im not the only one on this boat then lol. it seems it happens more often when the car is cold. ive been keeping a tally on it, lol i was told that maybe its b/c i have too much weight on the keys?? does this sound right, too much weight for the ingnition. but then again, im not like i have a janitiors ring lol i have 3 keys, alarm box and a rotor keychain, then again, the key chain weighs alot

I have a similar problem, but i'm nearly certain it's the switch that detects the clutch is pressed. If i release the clutch and push it back in, it'll usually fire up.

you have a bad ground to the engine to complete the curcuit. usually the one that connects to the tranny and engine.
