problems starting
My car has problems starting, but i'm not sure if it's flooding or not. When I crank it, about 50% of the time, it will sound like it's flooded, but as soon as I hit the gas a bit while i'm cranking it will start.
My car is an S5 Fuel Injected engine, from what i've read from many people, you should never need to step on the gas when you start the car.
It doesn't seem like it's flooding because EVERY time I tap the gas while that problem is occuring, it will start. So this is more of an annoyance for me than a big problem.
when it does start ok, sometimes it will just have a weak sounding start but will start, and other times it will have a strong sounding start.
Anyone have the slightest idea to what this could be?

fuel injectors claughed-up or your fuel filter is old.
probably not enough of fuel is comming to the engine...
try replacing the fuel filter and see what happens.

It sounds like is slightly flooding.
It does not hurt to open the throttle while cranking. That's what the AWS does.
Maybe try a double shot of injector cleaner with your next fillup.

i dont' think it's the starter, it doesn't seem like a starter problem, my mechanic suggested that there's something up with the fuel injectors....
plugs and wires were changed about 8 months ago, fuel filter not much before that i think.....(it was before i bought it)....compression should still be good, it had good compression when i bought it and is still in the 140k range so it's pretty low, and I don't abuse it too much or anything.
and i thought that any additives in the a rotary engine isn't good for it? Or is it one of those things where there's different school's of thought (one for additives and one against)?

i'd say low compression. low comp. causes alot of starting problems. it could be that without the throttle opened a little more it's not getting enough air because the seals aren't sealing well and when you push the gas pedal it gives it that extra amount of air needed to start. if it is low comp. it will gradually get worse. do another compression check and see what you come up with.

well, it's been doing this for the last 4-5 months, and hasn't really gotten worse, it's more of an intermittent problem, sometimes it happens 1/2 of the time, sometimes, it happens like 1/20 of the time...i guess i'll check the compression again, but i doubt it's that
