Problem with Driveshaft?

Ok I had a friend replace my clutch last week and also resurface my flywheel. Everything went perfect on that end, but when he put everything back together the car starting vibrating really bad after 50+mph.

He suspected the driveshaft as the problem. So he asked me to come over last night and he would fix it up. I get back after he checks everything out and he said that he tried the driveshaft in the other position and it has the same effect.

So do any of you guys have a idea of what is causing this? It only vibrates when I am on the highway (hence 50+mph). Should I be not get on the highway or drive fast until this is fixed? If its not the driveshaft then what else could be causing the issue?

Rotate the driveshaft 180 degrees on the diff flange.

My first thought would be the driveshaft, but it looks like you have covered that. Check all mounts-Make sure none were damaged after clutch replacement if you let the engine hang. Make sure rear is not split and trans moved slightly.

This may sound kinda crazy, but it would do that if the shaft was BENT. trust me, not easy to do, but Ihave seen it once before. would only hafta be bent a little bit to throw off balance. roll the shaft on a flat surface to see. it is possible to be bent and not see it just by looking at it. hope this isn't it....

if you hit any really rough bumps or objects at higher speed, that would bend it. did you hit anything on the road--something kicked up by another car or something?

I had this same problem a month ago. Driveshafts do tend to go bad sometimes on these cars. This is what I concluded: I think the driveshaft was bent(very hard to tell just lookin at it) already. He may have put it in wrong when he put everything back together, making it worse and now too late to fix. I swapped mine and now its running like a charm. I got a good one on ebay for like 10.00 bucks. Also, when removing the shaft it tends to leak fluid.......if too much fluid is leaked out and not replaced that may be another cause but not sure. I'd say just swap shafts. Good luck!

I'd bet my life that its just put back in wrong. Nothing about the shaft itself has changed. I doubt he went around chopping trees with the shaft. Have him rotate it again. Don't rule out trying all four possible positions. Also I think that th Factory Service Manual makes reference to the fact that there are balancing weights on the back of the driveshaft, Kinda of like washers.Did your mechanic put those back on?
