Presilencer for TurboII exhaust.....
Presilencer for TurboII exhaust.....
Does anyone know where I can buy a universal presilencer for building a custom-exhaust on an 87 TII? Right now I have a 2.5" downpipe, 3" midpipe, and 3" custom cat-back with straight-through muffler, everything fully custom with no cats or presilencers at all, and it's WAY to loud. I need a universal presilencer that can be welded right into the exhaust piping. Thanks.
Thanks for the info Ted. Since this is actually a Borla Racing Muffler and is not specifically designed to be a presilencer, would it still be useful to lower/tone down the exhaust sound at higher rpms? Does it have enough baffles in it to actually work as an effective presilencer for a custom exhaust? Thanks.
BTW, I went to Jegs and Summit and found a lot of other universal glass-pack mufflers which are half the price of the Borla XR-1, would they be good enough to lower the exhaust noise as well??
What about one of those Flowmaster deltaflow 1 or 2 chamber small mufflers?? I need something that will last long but has enough baffles in it to actually make a difference in the exhaust note. Anyone have any ideas on what muffler I should use?? The XR-1 is kinda expensive, is their anything else that I could use that is cheaper??

Ok then if the Flowmaster would just amplify the exhaust note rather then help quiet it then I definetely don't want a flowmaster muffler as a presilencer. Does Walker have a website or something so I can look at what they have and possibly order something? Basically I'm just looking for a muffler to weld into my 3" cat-back piping behind my primary muffler(the muffler that is seen) because the setup I have now is just waay too loud, and it actually sounds annoying and stupid. One of my buddies has a TII with a similar exhaust setup except he has a BIG muffler which acts as a presilencer welded into the exhaust piping and the exhaust sounds great. At higher rpms it really helps to reduce the exhaust note and eliminate the chainsaw/fart noises, but not to the point where you can't hear anything at all. I need something similar to this because right now my exhaust really does sound like a chainsaw on crack, I just want something to mellow out and deepen the exhaust note but at the same time quiet it down as well.
try the dynomax race only bullet style muffler. i was goin to use it but i got a rb presilencer. i'm not too sure how much it will quite the exhaust down. i asked ppl on the forum and all i got was "i don't knows" post results if you try it. the muffler is only $35 i think from summit
Damn, I really want to get a RB presilencer, but my piping is 3" and the RB presilencer is 2.5" in/out. Wouldn't this make it a real pain in the *** to install? If not then I will probably just go for the RB presilencer, even though it's pretty damn expensive. I'm not too sure about the Dynomax Racing Bullet muffler, that thing doesn't look like it would help quiet the exhaust much at all.
