power windows conversion

so i found both power window doors. the whole door. and i want to swap them out for my manual crank window doors. im not just going to switch over the window part but rather the whole doors. more reasons to switch than just the windows. i have lock issues. but anyways what im trying to get at is where the hell is the plug hidden inside the car for the power windows? i can only find the one that controls the mirror just because its already hooked up atm. anyone have a picture of where its hidden at?

if you are sitting in the passenger seat with your legs extended it will be directly to the right of your right foot. its on the vertical wall, under a plastic piece that snaps off. like where the CPU and fuse box is on the driver side.

You might not have the plugs. I did a power window conversion on my 86 base and I used the door harnesses from a 87 turbo II and the plugs didnt match up. I had to wire everything up myself.

No its not that hard. you just need the two correct plugs. Having a parts car is awesome. If you have power mirrors and central locking it might be a bit tougher. But if you want to wire everything up yourself this is the wire colors:
Power to driver's side: black/red
Power to passenger side: black/blue
Ground: Black
Passenger up (from driver's side): red/white
Passenger down (from driver's side): green/white

You're going to hook up the power to drivers side to a switched 12v source. I chose to splice it directly off the ignition switch. This is a black/white wire. No matter which wire you choose to connect this to, be sure to splice in a 30 amp fuse. The factory ground for the power windows is that block under the coil behind the drivers strut tower. I haven't come up with a permanent solution for this since I dont want to splice it in to one of the existing ground wires having no idea which is which, I used a ring terminal and just bolted it on in that location. Not pretty but it got the job done. And just fyi, the passenger side power is supplied from the drivers side, so there are only three wires that need to go to the passenger side. I wired mine up like this and both sides work from the drivers side, but the passenger switch doesn't work, but I think it just needs to be cleaned.

So much nicer if you just do your own wiring rather than trying to swap out the harnesses and finding all that ****.
Just splice in from a fused source, there may even be a blank fuse ready to be used in your panel and then wire up according to that diagram with relays and youll find the windows work even better.
If you want to keep the control on the window switch to disable the passengers switch run that wire from the drivers switch to where its labeled "12V Source" on the diagram for the passenger side.

The reason I took my power from the ignition is because I didn't have any blank fuse panel openings. There were open spots, but nothing that actually holds the fuse.
