I have an 87' GXL, and hte passenger side power window isn't working. How do I check the window motor and/or switch?

Try swapping out the Passenger Switch and see what happens.

It doesn't work from the passenger side, and the lock out switch doesn't work, either. How would you switch the switches, and where are they located?

Take a flat head and pry the drivers switch out of the door panel (and dont break it!). Disconnect the harness, undo the two screws holding the back plate on, pull the backing off. Now you see a bunch of contacts. Clean them all with some sand paper and put dielectric grease on the connections. Now put it all together.

in case your motor is malfunctioning, hammers do wonders on those little suckers. The other day my moms windshield wipers, in her xterra weren't working. Bam. hit with a hammer and the things have been workign ever since.

I guess you'd call that a cheap temporary fix.
I love it!

temporary yea right. That thing will never break. Not again at least. As long as it knows what is good for it
