Well you didn't put model or year, but if you have a model with vehicle speed sensing power steering, there is almost no boost at 40 mph, and minimal boost at about 15 MPH, with only full boost at under 10 MPH.

Sure that the car has power steering? There are a couple models that didn't come with it standard, but of course you didn't say model or year, so its hard to tell if this is the case for you.

I towed my '91 T2 home about a month ago and was actually surpriced how light the steering was.. even tho it has PS and it was'nt running...

Now i have ditched the PS pump and looped the lines on the rack, no way im gonna put a manual rack in there, i love the better ratio in the PS rack..

Yeah the 89 GXL was the last year the GXL had the speed sensing power steering, so I am assuming your low speed power steering is very heavy??

If so the first things I would be looking at is the power steering pump belt, and that the power steering CPU is getting power and is plugged in.

You have checked the fuse right???

i have this same prob... but i get a couple hours drive time before it does not 'ease' up anymore. i have an easy fix for it.. turn the car of then back on, everything back to normal. im gonna check my cpu connection, sounds like that could be the culpret. the belt and a bleed would prolly help to. oh i have a 88 10AE
