Power steering beeping.

I'm pretty sure that's what it is anyways.

It started with about 5 or 6 beeps (I'm pretty sure it was 6), pause and then repeat...

It went away and then went to 3 beeps, pause repeat... went away again and now every single time that I start the car. It is one solid beep that just does not stop.

I was wondering if I disconnected the power steering computer, would it stop beeping? would it be bad for the pump? would I run into problems?

Help and suggestions appreciated!!

Thanks.

Derrick.

Okay... did a bit more research and it seems that my car has a sense of humour.

When I went to put it in the Trader the other day, the beeping stopped out of the blue.

... about 30 mins later it started up again and won't stop.

When the beeping (steady, solid beep that just doesn't stop) is going on, there is no power steering.

I gather that I take the belt off and take the pulley off, but after that, I'm kind of lost.

I really want to just detach/remove/dismantle/destroy the PS computer as I have been lead to believe that there is a separate computer for the PS.

Is this true? If so, where is it?

Once I remove the belt and the computer, what else should I do?
