power steer vs. non-power steering

guys i've been driving FWD non-powersteering cars all my life. When i got the FC i found it hard to corner. Drift is ok, but steering just sucks?

Does the FC handle better with the power steering out?
I wouldn't mind the extra power too

How does drifting go with power steering out? I think i'd be hard with the wheel flicking around.

First of all, you didn't say what model you have...

If you have a S4 (as it says in your profile) and it has power steering, then the power steering is vehicle speed variable and unlike a FWD economy car only robs about 2 HP at speeds below 15 or so MPH, and that lessens as the speed increases until you get to around 40 MPH were there is no power assist at all.

2nd, the FC has better steering than any FWD car I have ever driven, so are you sure that you are not confusing driving style with the car's abilities.

Torque steer from FWD cars is not a positive. As in any real sports car, there is a big improvement in how the steering handles when you are not driving the front wheels as well as trying to steer them.

If you are really convinced that the power steering is the culprit to your having a hard time handling the car (which from your description I am completely sure it isn't) then just unplug the power steering computer, to test your theory. It is located just behind the driver's dash speaker and is that big silver box mounted there.

That would give you a temporary way to test your abilites or if there is a problem with the power assist.
