What kind of battery voltage are you seeing at idle and what voltage while driving? This could possibly be an alternator problem.

Don't go out and buy one just yet. If you don't have a way of testing it, you can get it tested for free at most auto parts stores.

P.S. - If you need a new alternator... Look into the 130A Ford Taurus alternator swap in the FAQ sticky. ;-)

Doesn't sound too bad. According to the FSM, alternator output test (at hot) should show 13.5V. This is factory, though... Your car is 23 years old.

Just for *****, get it tested at an auto parts store... Most stores do this for free.

Before you replace your alternator (IF you have to) consider the 130A Ford Taurus alternator. I run this alternator with absolute perfect voltage, and no issues whatsoever.
Only problem is... This superior alternator will not fit under the stock top mount intercooler.
