!!!POWER LOSS!!!

I am experiencing power loss. A week ago, my car worked fine, I had great, excellent acceleration. Then the next day I noticed significant power loss, especially high end.

I can stomp on the gas, I can push it slowly, yet neither way do I obtain any kind of good acceleration. It seems to be getting worse.

Driving on the road, the revs go up VERY slowly, even though the pedal is to the floor. I can spool it up to 4k in each gear, and barely make it t0 60mph. It acts like there's a governer at 60mph.

Oh, and also, we were going 55 in forth, about 3500 rpm, and it like started to shake and lurch, like it wasn't getting enough gas, or gas+air.

I let it idle, then revved it--- with the gas pedal TO THE FLOOR it could not even reach 6k.

I need help, and fast. Clogged cats? Fucked up butterflies in the intake? Some throttle problem? Fucked up injectors? Fuel lines? Fuel pump? Help me out, people. I get my license back tomorrow after 3 months and this couldn't have come at a more aggravating time.

Check your cats, one of them could have balled up and stuck into your exhaust.

Also check your fuel pressure, and that the gas pedal moved the throttle the correct amount. You might want to pop off the intake piping and look at the butterflies while you have a friend work the gas pedal.

Nothing there? Check the ignition system.

Ahhh, I know that feeling well

Pull your whole intake apart then, find your problem

Check on top of the air filter too. Maybe theres a squirrels nest in there. :-p After that, same check for the exhaust.

Hah, I totally forgot to mention the year and model. '88 GTU. Brand new spark plugs, brand new wires. Butterfly area of intake seems fine, butterflies are unobstructed. Once the exhaust is cooled, I'll start taking that apart.

What about injectors?

hahaha...dude...

12:00am- drive car around, get mad at it.
12:30am- intake seems fine, I'm lazy, go inside.

2:00am- I really want to work on my car.... but it's too cold.

3:00am- rolled the car up on the ramps, ready to take apart the exhaust system... oh look at that. The O2 sensor is broken off.

3:05am- I am an idiot.

Haha, that sucks. At least it wasnt the e-brake.

I once snapped off my un-spent fuel line and that caused some problems with stuff.
