auto to manual lil questions
when removing the driveshaft manuals say to make a mark so that it is placed back the same way. However i am swapping the tranny along with the drive shaft so what do i do?
Also manuals say that when you pull the tranny out of the car support the engine with a jack, however i wanted to pull the tranny out through the front. any way around this?
I might pull the car out of the garage then. But were under the engine is best to place the jack?

Don't worry about making a mark on the shaft.
if you have a floor jack, use it to support the engine. Put it towards the back. I put a block of wood on the jack so the engine was sitting on that. Its going to want to lean back with no tranny in place. The jack will support the weight that used to be supported by the tranny and prevent undo stress on the motor mounts. To pull the tranny out from the front, you have to pull the engine and leave the tranny attached to the engine. If all you are doing is a 5spd swap, then leave the engine in the car unless you have another reason for pulling the engine.

you can't pull the engine out the rear. Leave the engine alone.
Pull the tranny from under the car and put a jack or something under the back of the engine. If you want to pull the tranny from the front, you have to take the engine and tranny out as one unit, which is more work than necessary if you are doing a auto to manual transmission swap.

Just leave it open. Since the auto tranny isn't pumping ATF in to get cooled, nothing will come out. Its a seperate chamber, its not connected to the coolant chamber. It may have fluid in it when you first take the lines off, but its not under pressure. Let it drain out and you'll be good to go.
