power dropoff before redline?

im noticing that around 6800-7000rpm im getting a power dropoff. is there some sort of rev limiter or fuel cutoff in my car causing this? any ideas?

car:

'90 GXL
k&n filter + air scoop shooting air into stock airbox
headers
no cats
cherry bombs
switch to disable fuel pressure regulator

this has been happening since i got the car

could be some dirty fuel injectors...or maybe you're ports aren't opening like they should...

the engine pulls strong up until then, and i recently had my ports cleaned. also, with the fuel pressure regulator disabled, im getting the max fuel pressure so i should be getting all the fuel i need.

thanks for the thoughts on it though.

How did you disable your fuel regulator? What PSI are you pushing to the rail?

basically the system is prevented from shunting fuel back to the tank now, so its pushing the max pressure at the flick of a switch. i believe for a 90n/a its around 33psi. could be wrong though.

still looking for help with the ore-redline power loss....

umm where is the switch?... are you cutting off the vac to the fpr? or cuting off the return line so 100% pressure goes to the injectors? I really hope your not cutting off the return line, but I doubt it would run that way anyways as you'd have about 90psi

on or off it still dies. even before this mod was done.

even before headers were put on.

Check your timing, and clean your injectors.

It sounds like it's getting lean on the secondary injectors. Have them calibrated and cleaned.
