Power Antenna Mod

Is it possible to modify the power antenna in my FC so it will only pop out about 14" when turning on the radio?
I did search but was not able to find any info.
Thanks

Add a switch. Cut power to it manually when it reaches 14" in length. I'm not into things that big personally though.

there is a plastic whip in the antenna, it is what commonly goes bad and mazda used to sell a repair kit for it, perhaps its possible to cut it shorter, you might even be able to try it out on your current antenna

you can't cut the whip, then the antenna won't work at all.

this either requires some handy electronic fabrication making a timed relay or live with what you got...alternately, if you really hate the stock antenna that much, you can get a fixed one in either plastic or metal, but it will always be "up".

The mod I did with my antenna was lower it, then disconnected it

You can buy a stubby 3 inch antenna to replace the factory. It is just a coil of wire in a plastic case instead of a mast. Check crutchfield.

if the whip is shortened it will eject to the end of the whip and permanently stay there. since the whip will be all the way out, the gear can't grab it to pull it back in. most of the time i had to replace antenna masts on stock cars was because the whips broke at the end of their travel, not allowing the gear to pull them back into the motor.

My antenna would not Raise anymore..(on the CAR!..haha!)
So I looked around and found a "rubberducky" antenna at Walmart for 14 bucks.
it is about 12 inches high, and flexable.
You can install it really easily and take it OFF whenever you want,as it just unscrews off the Mounting point.
Very good alternative to have this on a car in a Neighborhood where Kids like to Snap off antennas!.My Oldsmobile had one snapped off, right outside the house.Still Pisses me off to this day!

Most of the time, yes.

Well, thanks for your suggestions and replies. I think I will live with the antenna sticking out a mile high in the air.
