Powder coating MUFFS

I know that you can poweder coat rims.

But on my 91 which I'm repainting I do not want the Mufflers silver. The color scheme would just be wrong

Can I get racingbeat mufflers powder coated gun metal black?

Or will the exhaust temp be way too hot for it?

YEP, you can do that.. I can't imagine why you would want to... but you can do it..

You'll have to find a good powder coater in your area and ask them about their coatings and what they can do for you. There are special Hi-Temp powdercoatings available, and luckily, most of them are in the black/grey color range

You definately want to have it professionally done because any dirt or grease under the powdercoating and it'll chip off.

Because some of us don't like big shiney bling-bling mufflers. A pair of 4" SS tips is enough for me, which is why I'm considering doing the same thing. I'm just waiting for our workshop guys to send a bunch of stuff off to be powercoated matt black...

just use engine enamel in a spray can. It's $3. It looks fine. If it chips off eventually (and the powder coat will when rocks hit it from your tires) you just touch it up. Don't waste your money on powdercoat on your cans.

I am decidedly **** if not OC about the inside cabin and the engine bay. However, for the life of me I can't figure why anyone would want to powder coat mufflers. Do you plan to jack it up often and gagze at 'em?

Jodoolin.

They are silver.

I do not want them silver. I am repainting the car custom and I want a certian continuity that fits my tastes.

I take it you have an Rx7. You're mufflers are probably silver. Do you jack the car up and gaze at them?

Powder coating doesn't help anything proformance wise if that's what you mean.

I suppose that the black color might make them slightly hotter, but I don't know.

I just would like them black. Just like I will have my rims black too.

Because even when sitting on the ground the mufflers are plainly visable. Unpainted aluminium or SS mufflers stick out like dog's ***** and some of us don't like that look, as I said before. It's not about improving their looks as such, it's about making them look less obvious. Powdercoating is more durable than spray paint.

your joke = teh SUX!

Black mufflers rule! Shiny exhausts stand out where ever you are. You can spot them from far away right away. I think a cop will pull over a person with shiny exhaust canisters before he/she pulls over someone with black canisters. Shiny items also attracts people with hot hands.

Yeah. And its not like I don't like them silver and I can't sleep at night or something.

Now on the other hand if I painted my subfarme and suspension parts bright stainless silver the scheme
might look good...but not so sure about that.

I didn't and its probably because I was like: Hmmmm. Saran wrap. Okay hmmmm. Glad wrap....

I was trying to picture some guy under his car melting plastic to his mufflers or something...

And then I thought: Um, no. Won't be doing that.
