Possible to use N/A wiring harness on T2 engine?

When doing my N/A -> T2 swap (S4), is is possible to use the N/A engine harness? I have a complete T2 wiring harness, but it isnt in the greatest of shape, and I hate to put something like that back on my car. My N/A harness is in very good shape. Is it possible to use the N/A harness? I realize if so Id need to do some splicing for T2 sensors, but thats no big deal.

Yes. It's quite easy. I wrote a answer to a fellow on the other site this moring at http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showth...993#post312993

A common approach to doing this is to compare the plug printouts for the non turbo and the turbo cars and compare the two pin by pin. You can find these pinouts in the FUEL SECTION of the FSM'S under the heading CONTROL UNIT. Like I said, on a series four there are but three to four diff. It's pins 1C, 1R, 1S, 2K and 3D

You can leave 1C alone and forget about it. 1R is for the Knock Control Unit on a turbo and the P/S Swithch on a non turbo so either buy a knock unit or depin that wire, 1S is for the portair solenoid on both cars so I don't know why I wrote that down so forget it, 2K is for the Split Air Solenoid on a non turbo but for the Twin Scroll Solenoid on a turbo so you NEED to do something about that on a series four car, and 3D on a series four is for the inhibitor switch on a non turbo but for the ground that the ECU puts on the Fuel Pump RElay/Resistor. YOu NEED to do something about that. Either depin it or buy a Fuel Pump Relay/Resistor if your car is a series four.

It's all child's play. There is no need to swap harnesses b/t the two. The only thing remotly difficult is running a wire from the Split Air Solenoid plug to a typical emmissions solenoid and then two vacuum hose from there. One would go to the Twin Scroll Actuator.

And I did have to lengthen my TPS harness about a foot or so. Big deal. Three wires and a crimping tool.

Great thanks. As for the twin-scroll, I am running an aftermarket turbo, so twin scroll will be removed, so I wont have to worry about that. The only thing Im concerned abot is 3d, what exactly is the inhibitor switch? I have the knock control box for a S4 also, so I should be able to plug that right in?

Plug the Knock box in.

The Inhibitor Switch was only on Automatic Transmission cars. On a non-turbo, manual car, without theft control (therefore no Starter Cut Relay)......it really goes NOWHERE! On a turboII, with the turbo ECU installed, it puts a ground on the Fuel Pump RElay and Resitor (found only on turbo series four cars).

I run/live without that Fuel Pump Relay/resistor....so you can forget about pin 3D. I left it connected to the ECU...ain't going anywhere anyway.

With no Twin Scroll, it seems to me you have little to nothing to do to the n/a harness when you put the turbo engine in the car. Maybe stretch the TPS connector a foot or so.

You probably have no ACV either so you can just tie back the Split Air Solenoid plug and the Port Air Solenoid plug.

One last shot: I run full emissions also and everything WORKS and I have no trouble passing emissions (turbo conversion). Have fun with your project.

Last, last shot: make sure you use a intercooler and good luck finding a hood if you don't use a front mount intercooler.
