Is it possible to pass the sniffer without cats?
i got a n/a 86 rx7 and have to pass emissions soon, I just wanted to know if i could pass emissions with out my cats or if i have to put them back on my car, how hard is it for fc's to pass emissions and what do i need to do to my car to pass without doing all that extra work of putting my cats back on?

i dont really know about the readings and whatnot, but my car passed way below all the requirements, and i have a hole in my exhaust somewhere. icemark knows his **** though i would listen to him.

Definitely listen to Icemark here. You don't have a prayer of passing a sniffer test without cats. That's why I'm glad I live in the land of No Bi-Annual Smog Checks.

As far as being possable....yes. But the odds of it happening are like a million to one against it. My FC passed with flying colors with only a bonez HF cat. My hydrocarbon level was like .01 and Carbon monoxide was around the same. Id say that if you ran some of that alchohol stuff while doing the emissions test it may be possable if your car is running 100%, but that isnt very great on the engine, and its not guaranteed to work. Just get a cat bolted up for emissions then you can scrap it later.

Maybe I'm weird but I kinda like the fact that my RX-7 can sit and idle and not stink up the place. In fact even up close the exhaust smells like nothing, just air. Of course this can't happen without a functioning cat.
