Possible flooding questions...

Ever since I lost my license it has been getting colder here. I started my 88 gtu up every couple weeks to warm it up and keep it running.

It always did take along time starting, especially in cold weather. The colder it got, the longer it took to start.

The one day it took for ever to start, and then ran for 3 seconds and shut off. Right after it had started I pumped the gas lightly about two times to prevent stall.

After that quick 3 second run, it would not start at all, and after a few cranks all I could hear was the starter spinning.

Anyway, that's the background. I am going to install new plugs and wires.

This information leads me to fear flooding.

If the old spark plugs are soaked with gas when I remove them, is that an idication of flooding?

in the cold you should always crank it with the pedal to the floor. Built-in fuel cut.
I think it only works for s5's though, correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I'm going out to try it right now. It's about 22 degrees out there, and the car hasn't run for over a month.

We'll see.
