Porting S5 intake manifold?

I'm probably going to be trading my TII for a '90 GXL sunday (long story). I'm looking to see what I can do performace wise that will add a significant amount of HP.
My friend ported his intake manifold on his '87 GXL and it made a HUGE difference!
I want to know if it's a good idea to port a series 5 intake manifold. Does it mess up the VDI or anything?
I plan on having a K&N intake and a true dual exhaust, I
know those will make a big difference on their own, I just want to make sure I won't be losing power by porting the manifolds.

Thanks,
Craig

Here's a link to the thread that was on here a few months ago. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=79511

There is another thread available that I posted on the subject about taking it one step farther if you are using an aftermarket computer.

There is a way to get even more power out of the S5 manifold than what that thread states but it is alot of effort and re-engineering.

Here is the link to the other thread that was on here. It is about going one step farther. To fully take advantage of this you need an aftermarket ecu. It is also not a mod intended to give you the best gas mileage or low end power. It is a gain from 4000 rpm and up so gas mileage will definitely drop. The only thing that I never added to the thread was an intake runner mod that I did on that one. I found that when I ported out the intake runners like the other thread states, that some mid range power suffers but it gets really nice after VDI kicks in. I didn't want that loss. Since I moved my secondary injectors and they were no longer a source of flow restriction I filled in a big section of runner area with plastic steel epoxy. Its hard to explain without actually showing you. It gave me all the midrange back and more and the top end was still there. You'll have to really study the pictures on thd link to fully grasp what I'm talking about. There is alot of flaming against me for doing this mod but thats fine. They'll never truly know what I do!
