porting and emissions

OK I have searched a few times and just found different opinions about this, so hoping to clear a few things up.Now i know that all out port jobs like bridges are not going to pass. What I run into trouble with is whether a large streetport will have trouble passing. Mild ones probably will, but i don't want a mild streetport. The engine in question is currently being built and ported by myself, I just want to know how far I can take it before i run into problems with emissions. I've already don a good amount of porting on the secondaries, as i can always have those closed during the test. So can i go with a big port job on the primaries or should i stay conservative. I am picking up a turbo intermediate houing so theres no problem with porting that.

I appreciate the help guys.

Well, my stock Cosmo had pretty big primaries and I am sure that had to pass at some point in time I would imagine if you can get it to idle at 14:1 or so and have all the emissions stuff hooked up it should pass Dunno if there is any sure fire way of saying, that's too big

As long as you don't have the port too big using the stock ECU you should be okay (in some cases maybe a fuel controller). If you're really worried about it that much go standalone and you can have a lot more control over how the engine runs. That is the only real way to be perfectly safe of having her pass emissions with a large port job.

Btw...you said you can have the secondaries closed at all times, I hope you mean Auxilary ports cuz if not you have made a mistake...I really hope you don't have a 4 port engine.

ohh no I meant the auxs. sorry.

Yeah standalone is WAY out the window. This rebuild is cleanin me out as is. I might be able to scrape enough together to get a s-afc sometime soon, but that will be it.

Anyone know if cheating will work in this situation. I have a new cat and am not that willing to sacrafice it to pass emissions. I only say this because I have heard that if you put in ...I think methyl hydrate?? something along those lines...it will make the car run ALOT cleaner but you might clog your cats in the process. can anyone back this up or have any info on it?

Thanks guys
