MD porting for DD car?

Hello,

I am planning on putting a 13b in a b2200 mazda truck. the 13b came out of my second 91 rx7. I love the way a Bridgeport sounds. I would like to know what kind of porting will give me the best DD engine? i was thinking a half bridge with a street port would be good. not sure if there will be much low end. i don't know to much about when the engine is ported

The general rule is that any porting will shift the power band to the right, extreme ports even much more so.

A question like that is going to yield a whole slew of different answers because there is no "right" answer. It's a matter of opinion and what you can personally deal with... I say that because you are going to have guys tell you outright that you shouldn't port a DD period, others will say a streetport is fine and not too much and others will say that you should stop being a ***** and that they DD a P-Port, with varying degrees of opinion in-between.

The more you port, the more your power band shifts like faberio said, but also the more your idle goes up and your MPG goes down (generally).

You can DD anything that won't overheat or in some other way mechanically fail from prolonged operation in the driving environment you would operate it.

I DD a finicky twin plate FC with rock hard coilovers and sketchy windows and wipers and before that I used to DD a Silvia with no AC, no power steering, no stereo and no sound deadening, just a raw steel interior, nothing but two seats and a dashboard. I might have some hearing loss, it was that loud at full rip. It depends on what your personal comfort zone is.

If you can deal with the millimeterwide powerband, the noise and the Irish soccer hooligan fuel consumption you could DD a ***** to the wall petty port. Your neighbors would hate you for firing that thing up every morning, though.

I just ended up cleaning up the stock ports.

but also remember that different cars have different stock ports...

The second graphic on this site is useful in comparing them:

(click the buttoms on the side of it to bring up the primary or secondary ports.)
