Knock control unit?

Just wondering, how important is the knock control unit on TII's? I'm building a kind of hybrid setup and trying to decide if I should keep it. It's all going in a sub 2000 pound car which will see no street use.

I like to obtain and install them when doing turbo swaps, however the knock sensor will not save even a stock turbo rotary from breaking if the conditions for knock exist, so it's one of those things. If you have it, leave it. If you don't have it and can get it cheap, then fine. If you don't have it and can't get it or can't get it cheap, don't lose sleep over it.

It's also one of those things that, if you don't have it and you blow the engine, you'll probably be asking yourself "what if" even though we all know it would not really have mattered.
