Was it a backfire out of your exhaust? Check your timing via the crank angle sensor.
Try to be more clear in your posts. "oh yeah then i saw that my waterpump was leaking and i got a new one it now! does anyone know?" is difficult to understand.

Something similar happend to me with my N/A once a few months ago. My throttle sensor connector was shorting out causing the engine to buck around a little and making the throttle very touchy. I let off the gas and held down the clutch and 2 seconds later, the loudest backfire I have ever heard, echoed forever. Engine shut down immediatley and took a bit to get it started but was fine afterwards.
Im guessing possibly there was fuel collected in the exhust manifold or somewhere close to the engine's exhaust ports due to the ECU not shutting off the injectors now and then and combining the exhuast leak I had with the fresh air being pumped into the exhaust on decel, may have caused the hot fuel to explode and possibly be powerfull enough to try and pushed the motor backwards but instead, stops the motor.
Just a guess though........

i would say detonation but you said it ran fine after you got it started again. i would do a comp test just too be sure. it could have been similar to rotaman and the force of the back fire cracked your water pump housing. like rx7tuner said try to be more specific in your posts

I think it would depend on th situation, when and where it occured in the engine for it to harm the motor. If your engine runs fine I wouldn't worry about a comp test to much but its still good to know what the numbers are to give you an early warning of the condition of the motor.
Months after mine did that I have 115 PSI on my rotor faces.

Acutally, I have never had this situation happen with the TPS disconnected. I know the injectors keep firing but I think the mixture would be to rich for the A:F to combust on decel while fuel is being injected. I think it would take extra fuel maybe right before decel or something and then have the injectors turned off to allow fresh air to be pumped into where ever this fuel is. I dunno....
The Spark Plugs still fire on decel correct?

hm , Interesting. Mine would make small popping sounds on decel without the TPS plugged in and will jerk around slightly but would never do what it did earlier.
Weird. the Mysteries of rotarys I guess
I just answered my own question. duh.
