Poor Start
Whenever i try and fire up the motor when its cold it takes 15-27
secs for it to finally start but it'll stall once the gas is let go off.
I guess it could be a bad fuel filter or bad injectors?
The engine will only stay running when warm.

I'd appreciate any help?
It seems that everyone keeps skipping up on my posts? Does anyone have any help they can give me?
As to Why the car dies when i start it up? There was a thread that was posted after mine that stated the same problem. And he got help quicker than i did.

I'll vote for the getting old and low compression. There seems to be a little more envolved though. It also sounds like your fast idle cam and thermowax are not set right. Even without the bac working it would seem that if the car is cold, then the thermowax would keep the throttle open until the car warms up and the fast idle cam falls off the roll pin. You forgot to mention if when you start the car cold, if the engine revs around 3000 rpm for the 17seconds or not. Please tell me that you do not have that throttle mod thing. So, does it rev to 3000 for 17seconds. Are you interested in a free factory manual??????? Free? Forget the fuel filter and injector stuff. Need answers quick before we go the the next post. P.S. The other fellow got answered first because he slipped us a 20 under the table.

One other thing to check. Look under the passenger's side front carpet. You will find the ECU there. Look at the bottom of it where the wiring harness plugs in. If you see a postage stamp size epoxy covered circuit board spliced into the wires this may be your problem. This was a fix by Mazda to try to alleviate the flooding on higher mileage engines. It will have three wires on it.
This is a fuel pump delay circuit board. It is designed to prevent the fuel pump from running for a short period of time when the engine starter is engaged. This is to allow for cranking speed and compression to stabilize before fuel is introduced to the injectors.
To remove it all you have to do is reconnect the black wire to the ECU together and remove the ground wire on the device.
