Poll: brake pads
I'm in need of new brake pads. What do you guys use? What is the best? I currently have EBC green stuff but I want to try something different, better.

AutoZone lifetime warranty pads!
The old ones were worn pretty far down and I didn't want to have to replace the rotors, so I just put cheap ones on.
I don't suggest them for anyone doing anything other than street/light autocross. They fade quite early. I'd trust them to bring me down from 110-120mph once, but not multiple times without some lengthy cooling involved.

I've got the Hawks on now and I like 'em...very little dust, no fade (on the street at least). They still bite well in cold temps too. KVR's were nothing special, I think we're taking them off the site (hence the lack of pics/pricing). I'm going to try Endless next...
Prices aren't up on the Hawks as of yet but if anyone is interested just call, the site was just re-vamped for all models and we still have a TON to load for RX-7's as most of it is missing. All other cars we cater to have a complete line of parts ready to order...

for a commuter with OEM braking i would use Raybestos plus series or better. i swear by raybestos, i came to this conclusion by putting a set of PG plus pads on the front of my s-10 with 33X12.5X15"(the stock braking system is less than adequate for these tires) tires on it and the pads lasted over 80K miles, the rotors were within spec still after 1 cut and the braking was better than OEM. i install them on all of my customer's vehicles.

I'm using KVR carbon fiber ones. They have great initial bite and good pedal modulation. I haven't ever hit brake fade, though i haven't gone racing since installing them but I have pushed them pretty hard. Dust is very very light and comes off with just a simple wipe of the rag.

WARNING - lifetime pads eat rotors.
Note - pads are cheap & easy to replace.
If you race, get race pads, it not , get stock pads.
The stock brakes in the RX-7 are pretty damn good.
The big deal with your brakes is to bleed the system when you change pads.
The fluid gets old & absorbs moisture, which then causes parts to wear & fail.
