Please tell me i'm not up a creek without a paddle
I have a 90 TII with 75,000 miles in really good condition overall. Today I was cleaning the interior with some Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer and used it on my ash tray. Well everything else was fine but my ash tray turned into a greenish camo color. It was almost as if I was dissolving the black paint or something. I quickly stopped when I realized but the damage was done. Does anyone know a website where I can buy a black ash tray? or any way to turn it back to black?
My steering column cover also seems to be broken. It jiggles around and such. Does anyone know where to get a new steering column cover.
This thing is my baby and I hate when something I do hurts my car, I'm sure y'all know how I feel. Thanks for any advice.

You could spend about $70 or so at Mazdatrix or clean the top of the lid and spray it with some flat black Duplicolor that adheres to plastic. I did this and it looks brand new. Spend the $5 or so on the spray paint and if it is not up to your standards then splurge and buy a new one.

Ashtrays are notorious for discoloring. I have 3 FC's that have all come with a mis-colored ashtray.
Here is the solution:
http://duplicolor.com/products/vinylFabricCoating/
Clean it, clean it, clean it again, then spray it. Use the Flat Black. When you are done, the match is perfect.
Good Luck!

It was just odd seeing how it looked fine and had no fading problems at all until I used that specific cleaner. One of the weirdest things ever watching the color come off immediately. I'm probably going to go back to armor all wipes after that...even though I don't like the oily residue I prefer it to hurting my car thanks again.

go to Walmart and get Krylon plastic paint in Flat black...you can try Gloss But I find it is shinier than the stock Rubber console,,so the ashtray will look "bright".

spray paint is the best solution. duplicolor flat black. wipe it down with alcohol and then sand it with 2000 grit sand paper to get all the crap off of it then spray it.
