I am currently looking for another 2nd gen, I'm in lower alabama so there are not very many. I've found one in the paper for $3500, '91 vert dark blue (new paint), 119K miles, great shape. I would appreciate your thoughts? 1-10 on 2hd gen scale.

did you have to change the top, or is it in good shape? What were the most costly fix's?

In general, the NA rotaries are about as reliable as any honda. They just don't get as good fuel mileage. As for the top, it cost me $550 to get the one on my Capri replaced, and that's a manual top. If the top needs replacing, add in another grand at least.

No my top was like new! I have seen tops being sold on ebay for less than $500.00.
I have not had any costly fixes "knock on wood" but have installed a Racing Beat header and Mazdatrix high flow cat that cost about $650.00 but well worth it!

those would be my first mods, given that i didn't have to "fix" anything. What did you do about actual muffler, I imagine it can get pretty loud in a vert?

For now I have the stock cat back and it sounds great.
I could not imagine having an N1 style can muffler on the car it would be way too loud.
I will be installing a RB cat back after I install a new clutch this fall.
