The sensor needs a power and a ground. Then one wire from the sensor will run to the hot lead on the fan, and the fan then grounds on it's own. The lil thermo hicky on the sensor that is attached to that long bendy wire needs to be located at a good temp pick-up spot. I used to have mine attached directly to the radiator fins using a zip-tie; you could also attach it to the hose, but you will lose some acuracy.

Here: I got bored so I drew up a quick diagram. The connections on your switch may not be the same but they probably are.

if you have a different switch it may have a signal wire but mine didn't and it was the one I got with the fan from summit. So you probably have the same switch. Felix; which wire do you think is missing? The thermo switch is a very simple item and of all the ones I have ever seen were like the one I illustrated.

And the grounds do not need to be on the actual battery they can be at any ground location. I just did it that way to make is easier to understand.

fan cool radiator bad

I installed my fine but without a thermosensor........ I got the 16 inch aluminum one. its working great too! I have a question is the stock radiator silver or black in a 88 TII cuz it looks like the stupid person I bought my car from put a new radiator (its black) behind the stock radiator which is silver(I'm pretty sure it doesn't work) that would totally be messing up my air flow right?

If you have two radiators in your car there is deffinitely air flow problems which is a BAD thing on a T2. Are you sure the black thing is not the shroud or an aftermarket electric fan?

I also installed my perma-cool without a thermostat. It just comes on whenever I start the car and runs until I shut it off. It doesn't help in the warm up process but it is alot easier and less troublesome. When I had the thermostat hooked up it would run for almost an hour after I shut off the car and kept draining the battery. If you turn the temp up to shut it off at a reasonable amount of time it will let your car overheat a lil. The car would actualy come on just sitting in the driveway if it got hot enough outside, even if I had not even driven it.

NOPE! I do not have an internat cabable computer at home, just an old school PC that is just used like a word processor to type stuff and play solitare. I don't normaly get to post on the weekends but sometimes I do when I'm over my girlfriends house, but I'm usually drunk then, hehehe. And at work, I spend way too much time on here to waste any more on AIM. If you were hoping to get info from me, sorry! But i'm sure there are others on AIM who know a hell of alot more than I do. Maybe Icemark is on AIM; or you could try HAILERS, he has a preaty broad range of car knowledge.
