Please help the new kid...

Hey guys im Adam Presley and I live in springfield Missouri. Any of you guys in the surrounding states feel free to check out www.417imports.com . Im interested in buying a 2nd gen rx7 and quite possibly have one by this weekend if everything works out with this fellow. I want to swap a 3rd gen low mile engine in and run a single turbo setup...Problem is..i dont know poopie about rotaries...Dont know what size of turbo would be reasonable for a daily. Im going to be truthfull probably would give it hell on the weekends...But not a lot of people wouldn't...lol...If you guys could just post some suggestions or if you know of any shops in a good 5 hour radius...drop it here...Thanks for all of the help and nice meeting everyone...

-Adam

No real help w/ the 13B-REW swap, but welcome to the forum!! I grew up in Springfield. The REW (FD) engine swap is pretty hard, so you might want to stick with the stock turbo engine. What year? Model?

FWIW the 13b-rew(3rd gen TT motor) and the 13bt(2nd gen single turbo motor) are capable of the same amount of power. IT is just dependent on what you put on as control systems and power adders. Sure, there is more support for the 3rd gen platform, but mainly because of the wiring and electronics.

IF you have access to it, just use a 13bt and then do what you want to it. The block is basically teh same, except that the 13brew does not bolt in to the FC body without mount modification, whereas the 13bt is a bolt-in even for anonturbo FC(2nd gen). Many people run 400+hp 13bt's just like 13brew's. Most serious 3rd gen guys go single turbo anyway, just like th FC comes with stock. The twin turbos, contrary to popular belif, do not add more power..they ada a broader powerband. ONe spools low end, then dies out while the next picks up for top end. The stock 3rd gen TT operating system would be nearly impossible to make work properly in a2nd gen car without lal the surrounding operating systems of a 3rd gen.

Rico... you grew up in Springfield... Creepy.

Adam, I'm a local Springfieder ( just outside actually ) and you'll find another 2 or 3 of us on here too. I IMed you, but no responce. As long as you don't have a Red, or Black 2nd Gen... I'm happy .

Anyway, I'm also a highschool student, with an RX-7 ( Engine out, currently @ the "Local" RX-7 guy in Neosho, MO "The Rotary Dr."... I just call him Kyle. ) The RX-7 people around Sprigfield are kind of a tight-knit group, I'm sure you've seen a few of us on 417imports ( TheRX7Kid = TII Chris, B2200TypeR = N/A Chris, Liquid Anarchy = Colby (A.K.A. Me), and 1991GXL = Brandon ) That's just a few of the 2nd Gen'ers online. I'm sure you'll meet us all eventually.

As for the FD engine, your best bet is just building a TII. Unless you're a prodigy... the transplant is going to take until you're 20. There's an 88 AE TII in Exider I heard about...

Even still, if you want boost, and a 2nd Gen, just START with a TII, instead of the hassle of conversions. A TII can be built to take an FD, and pretty much everything else street-legal around here. Hell, Ben Marr has an 11 second TII... COMPETITION!

Any questions, IM AvidAudiophile. I wanna talk to you anyway.

Hey guys thanks for all the help...I will now not go 3rd gen...lol...as one of you were saying the single turbo is the more "pro" way of doing it...i would just prefer that for some reason. Liquid, that is very weird...i didnt know there was actually people on these forums that were real...lol...Im going to talk to that guy tomorrow and if he is cooperating (or I am...either way) we can get a deal settled and I can get started with this project. Hey liquid, i believe your name is colby from reading that...sorry if it isnt...Yea IM me sometime and we can do something...Im excited to now have a somewhat quick car...Thanks for all the help and someone now go up and delete this post that is the same thing...because I was sooo tired last night when I posted this that I forgot and did it again this morning...LOL...So just delete one of them...Thanks guys...

MOAdam,

Hey welcome to the forum.

Best thing about the rx-7s is the car is 100% designed as a TRUE sports car - not a "sports coupe" or "sports sendan."

The Turbo II is a SUPERCAR and is the tuners DREAM CAR. Mazda designed the car with 450HP in mind but detuned to 200/180 ft-lbs torque. What that means is you can GO NUTS designing a porsche killer for little $$$.

The rotary engine is PERFECT for a sports car. Mazda designed the rx-7 to take 130% advantage of it. That means you get lightweight HIGH OUTPUT performance, UNLIMITED REVING (there's nothing to break), small engine means sweet aerodynamics = low drag. Handlign is the BEST part of the rotary experience. The chassis has rear steer like some porsches, so you can kick some serious butt around the corners. The car handles & drives so well - it inspires you to push the car beyond what you think it's capable of

Vaughnc... you should chance the name above your avatar to read "Picture ***** Numero Uno" It would suit you so well

I wish I could find some inexpensive 3rd Gen wheels for my Black GTU... they'd look so nice :sniffle: aww well, 6-stars for me.

Anyway Adam, ( You're Snakez on 417imports, right ) I'll be in contact. And remember... 3rd gen owners are EVIL... or maybe just stuckup
