PLEASE HELP!! my first rebuild.

I did everything by the books torqued down to specs. Everything went awsome. Dropped the motor in. But sadly its the stupid things that f**k you up. Well here goes i took the studs off the top of the lower intake manifold so that i could clean the old gasket off properly, and to my dispare when i was putting them back in (using two nuts) after i tightned it down I was taking off the nuts when I DROPPED ONE INTO THE INTAKE PORT!!! (standing infront of the car the first hole) I thoguht i could get it with a teliscopinbg magnet but it wouldn't manuver arount the piping. I took out the injecters and it would fit in the hole. I dont know if I should pull the manifold in fear of breaking the gasket because I'd have to wait for a week to get a another and i need to have the car outta my shop by tuesday. And the worst part is i dont know if it went inside the motor. GURUS HELP WHAT SHOULD I DO!

erm, use grey RTV.

edit: you can also buy gasket material and make your own.

Get a piece of wire or string, tie a small magnet on the end (very well), and drop it down into the intake a couple of times to see if that'll get it...

You haven't turned the engine yet, have you?

Don't chance it . . order the gasket and do it the right way. That's what 88Integra would do if he were in ur shoes. I've blown a motor due to having something dropped into it, and that is a really bad thing to have happen.

I shed tears reading this. What a bad break! I saw someplace they had a flexible magnetic pick-up tool. I think it may have been Eastwood?

Any lessons learned from your rebuild? Im thinking of doing it late this year or next spring. It looks somewhat easy, but so does everything and it usually isnt

I thought it was going to be sooo hard. but in was infact very easy. the only thing that i think sucked was sanding the side seals to fit. If i only knew of an easier way to cut them down lol..it took forever.. yes it was learned to put the studs on before i put up the manifold lol..didn't get it out yet didn't have a chance to work on it but it's out tomorrow no doubt..

Sanding the side seals to fit? Not sure what seals, seals on the rotors???

How long did it take you to rebuild it? Great that you did it yourself!!
