Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Personally I would also put a piece of plastic behind the crack and over it to spread the load from the few very small square fractions of an inch to something far greater.

I fixed a snapped off bar of plastic under the armrest with aluminum flashing. If you bend the sides of a strip, making a "u" shaped beam, it actually becomes quite rigid. Yet at the same time you can cut it with scissors, punch holes with a hammer & nail, bend it by hand, etc. It takes minutes to do anything with it.
I "drilled" holes into the existing plastic with a soldering iron. It pops through plastic in just a second or two. Then I used a small screw and a nut to bolt my flashing bracket to it. 2 on each side. Then I screwed the bracket down using the screws from the old plastic piece. My armrest doesn't wobble anymore, b/c now it's actually mounted in front. And unlike the old plastic there's no way it'll snap off.
I imagine you could do the same thing in other hidden areas. to plastic mounting pieces.
I also find large amounts of hot glue to work under various circumstances (most are not car related). Nice thing about hot glue is that it holds strong if you apply over a large area, but if you peel at just the edge of it then it will come off easily. So if you screw up you can try again 2 minutes later. Hot glue has been firmly holding on my front fender trim for several months now. On one side it actually took 2 tries to put on b/c it was crooked the first time. Just pried it off, peeled away the glue and did it again.
