it was actually flyby116's coworkers car. that's how i found it. i originally thought it was an 87-88 once he told me it was an 89 i HAD to have it. like i said "right time right place" just works out sometimes

Soul

Soul you mentioned in the past that they don't make them for the 87-88 car. If they did I would buy one in a second. The only thing is that I would want to eliminate the air flow meter. Can you talk with the people that make them and see if it is possible to have it made for an 87-88. I have to much money into my ride to consider buying an 89-91 just for this mod. If not I a Haltech will do fine.

Later,
DB

the reason they don't have one for the 87-88 Series IV is because it has a mechanical OMP and a few little other differences. the 89-91 Series V has a very similar engine to a 93-95 Series VI. i think in japan they have more S5 than S4 running. i haven't really seen to many pix of S4's from the japanese sites i goto your best is go haltech. turborotor has one in his S4 and it runs GREAT. its also nice to get rid of the old crappy stock wiring harness. my S6 (FD) has a haltech e6k because it is easier to tune on the east coast. if you need more info lemme know

Haltech

I am just concerned about stripping the Harness out of the car. I know it is old and brittle but my main concern is if I ever want to go back to stock with the car then what. The Apexi makes that quite simple. You know though I don't know that I will ever sell this car so I guess a Haltech will do just fine. How did you get your Haltech to maintain your idle when turning your AC on. Do you constantly have to make adjustments to the car or once it is set you leave it alone.

you do have to tweak the settings quite a bit. if you need exact info PM turborotor. he knows about 3000000 times more than me about since. he installed and tuned his own car.

How did you get the PFC to work in your FC. I wrote a letter to APEX'I and asked them about it and they said that it wouldn't work in the FC....so how did you do it.

ap engineering in japan reprograms the FC and makes the harness adapter. when i turned it on said 13BT1 instead of 13BREW. also had the right injector size very cool piece

This whole thing about the 89-91 vs the 87-88 cracks me. The electronic OMP should not be a reason not to make this for the older TII. An Electronic OMP was just an exuse to create a part that cost us a fortune and replace something that has worked fine for many years. If you were to tell me that they could not make this because of the air flow meter then I would understand. The funny thing is that I want to eliminate the AFM anyway. It would be interesting to see if AP could make this for the 87-88 crowd. I guess I really don't have a choice I would love to see a plug in Haltech, AEM, Apexi, Wolf with a handheld controller for the 87-88. The shitty thing is we are all racing time, the older our cars get the less you get unless your driving American Iron.

DB

What else do you tune on a haltech besides air/fuel at different RPMs and throttle postitions? What is its advantage over a PFC or SAFC?

Nice pics. I picked up a black 89" turbo ll for $750 bucks. My first turbo car. It needs a few things like door locks and misc. interior plastic, but the body is straight, paint is good, and it runs like a champ. Oh yeah, it also needs a new ignition because the original one is all screwed up. you could put a nail file in that sucker and it would start....lol
