Pinging and low idle problems!
The other day, I'd changed a P/S line, and after that, while driving home, I got pinging!! I was like...WTF!! Got home, thought about it for awhile....when to the gas station and got some 93 octane, and drove the car a little more with new gas, still pinging...only underload. The next thing I thought about was changing the spark plugs, while doing so, I found that two rear plugs were loose, so I went ahead and change out the plugs, and started the car up and let it idle until it warmed up, the car was idling fine, so then I took the car for a test drive and to my surprise....NO MORE PINGING!! So I drove the car home, but now the car idles like **** at 500rpm, A/F @ 17s, What the hell? Took the car out for another drive, now the pinging is back!! Any ideas of what it can be? Oh ya, I'm running RTEK 1.7 with 550cc/720cc @ 12lbs. with RB full exhaust, Apexi filter and FD pump. Any ideas on what's going on. If any of you have any insight on this, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Check the timing today, and it was on. Check the TPS with the bulb method, and that's fine as well. Also bumped up the idle to where it should be by adjusting the idle screw. I'd also turned down the boost to stock level. After all this the car seemed to be running good, except a slight rough idle about 100+/- rpm. Now I take the 7 for a test drive...No more ping! But now the idle is back down to about rough 500rpm? Any ideas of this problem?

Problem fixed...it was a loose TID, the underside of it was separated due to a loose clamp thus creating a vacuum leak, which cause the leaning out and the pinging and no idle issue. Why I didn't I catch it earlier? I couldn't see the bottom of it, and even spraying carb cleaner over the area wouldn't of helped. I'm just glad it wasn't something much worse.

Oppps...I'd spoke too soon! Pinging is back and now there's a CEL. I'll have to get to the mechanic on monday to get that CEL checked out. By the way, what would cause pinging? I'd just changed out the plugs, and fuel looks to be good on the wideband when underboost....I will search, but if any one has any ideas let me know. Oh ya, timing was checked and it was on, and it's pinging at 8lbs?!!

Top Down, Boost Up

What are your AFRs under boost? 11s hopefully. I'm assuming from the 17 AFR at idle comment you have an airpump connected, but it won't be active under hard acceleration to mess up your numbers.
As for timing, you can pull the CAS and restab it to be sure what you're measuring is correct.

Thanks for replying RotaryRocket. My AFR under boost reads around low 12s. The 17AFR at idle was due to the leaking TID, since that's been fixed, now the idle is reading around low 13s. I will look into messing with the CAS later.
I was wondering...recently the temp down here in S. Florida has been in the 90s , and I'm still running stock TMIC, maybe that has to do with the pinging issue, maybe it's time to upgrade to a FMIC? What do you think RR?

I'd spoke too soon...pinging came back soon after the last post, I've been trying to tackle it since, I've changed the fuel filter, upgraded the fuel pump to a Walboro along with constant 12V wired in, added a FPR and set the pressure at 35lbs, and the AFR is at around 10ish at idle....still pinging. The only thing I can think of is that the secondary injectors might have issues, I bought it from a forum member new, and it camed new looking, so I didn't flow/clean them, but they are getting pulled this week sometime to get that done, after that, I'm out of ideas, any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Remember, the pinging only happens when I get on the gas(which I don't anymore), not when I ease into it.
