pilot bearing, not a removal question

I installed my pilot bearing and everything went well with one possible exception - the bearing will move ever so slightly back/forth. It spins just fine and doesn't waver at all from the axis of the e-shaft though - the motion is purely back and forth.

Is this a problem?

Shouldnt be. The purpose is to keep the e-shaft in-line with the tranny, it shouldnt matter if it moves back and forth. Try pushing that rubber bushing in tighter

Yeah I tried that a bit but it didn't seem to be moving as surely as the bearing did so I didn't want to kill it... I'll try again tomorrow.

with a pilot bearing, you are only concerned with side to side play, not depth play. if your depth play is nothing major, like easily pulling the bearing out half way, then you are fine. but remember to look at the side to side play, because if that is too great (>.010")then you are officially in deep trouble, and I do belive the only fix is a new E-shaft. but from what you describe, its not a problem. unless you can feel the side to side play, then you are good.
