the function is to have an obviously lighter hood......i took this off of a rex at a local junkyard....and when i swapped it with mine i realised how heavy the one was that i bought compared to mine....so i know some peeps have heavy hoods out there....second of all it looks beter i know alot of peeps that wil spend 300 bux on a t2 hood just for something that is still stock......i designed the other part of the scoop to follow the lines of the lines that are near the sides of the hood and the inner pars follow the lines of the headlights...nothing too drastic but it looks nicer if i could just get some newer pics up.....ill try when i get back home.......as for function the air going over the front part generates lower pressure as it goes over the lip and the higher pressure air from inside the hood gets sucked out...i dont know if it makes that much of a difference...mostly for looks tho......and i made the shape out of urethane foam, sanded it down and then laid bondo to shape on top of that..then a layer of glass just to play with.....and an interesting point, which caused me alot of frustration cuz i used the windsheild wiper nozzles as a point to line up with...then i realised that the nozzles arent symetrically places...which screwed me over for a bit....but its alll over with so im going to go back to my apartment in portland and load these newer pics that do it way more justice up.....so until then....peace

actually it will be a lil higher than stock...now i have this interesting t2 thing in mind which i think will look sick come to think about it.....hmm..more ideas coming up......but first priority is to make just one and sell it the design that i have so i can have some funds to proceed...as well to eat......peace

That looks like a fun project.

So how about strength? Did you remove an support beams on the underbelly of it? Did you add any?If so from what material.

I've been itching for something to do. I was thinking of making a front bumber but a hood would be so much easier and it should add to the cooling which is a major need in AZ.

Good work though.

bigret ill put you on my list andmake you my first God willing...and about making the hood....lemme tell you...the bumper would be easier in retrospect to make...and after my next project making some cheaper non pop ups im going to make a full on bodykit if i can....the hood was a pain and has cost me some money, more than i expected and looking back i could have made it alot easier if i would have just made a copy of my hood and modified the fiberglass......but the underbelley i had to cut the supports out and mess with all that and sanded it all down which was pretty pointless to even get the underside even looking nice and smooth and as for strength im just going to make sure i use enough glass to keep it strong, sure it makes a difference but if someone is that **** about being safe with a few more aluminum beams then get a cadillac so i figured to hell with it, but i might consider putting something on the otherside to keep it stronger but its not my intent right now...but ive gotta get back to work on this thing before i go broke so until later...and guys i got a photoshop pic of maybe something im thinking for a bumper kit so lemme know of this pic since those of you who saw my last thread with the now know that i dont play when i say ima do something...ill post it here in a sec

Looks incredible man, just when I'm looking for a reverse scoop hood (for more efficient cooling and downforce...man we think alike, although I'm still working on my shroud). Nice price too...but what about the structural parts, and how many layers are you gonna use for the fiberglass? Anyhow, any new info you have please give me a hollar (PM, email, whatever). I'll keep checking here too...can't wait to see it done.

hey guys about the structural parts its all gonna go from underneath except for the feet in which it comes in contact with the rest of the car and the area where the hinges bolt up....when i get the copy done from the mold ill take a look at the strength of it and if i feel it needs supports ill throw a few in there from glass but if thats the case then it could drive up the time and cost, and i sure with the hider then the fiber then the mat then the fiber then the mat and maybe another layer of fiber im sure it will be strong enough, but if i need any changes ill make it so but otherwise its just gonna be more work more money more weight....but ive gotta get back outside and finish sanding and covering the lil gaps so i can wax and gel coat my plug so i can make my mold, and by the way im using white gel coat....anymore questions or advice for that sake would be cool.....thanx

Dude, look here. After you attatch the pic to the post, it is *already hosted* by the forum. Now all you have to do is get the link from the forum, edit your post, and insert the link between the[img] tags to make it show automatically. To find the link, click on the attatchment, view the pic, and copy the link above the pic. Now edit your post, hit the IMG button, and paste in the link. Now save these changes and the pic will show up.
