Picked up a bone stock 87' TII tring to work out all the bugs
So I picked up a bone stock 87' TII with 160k
This is the overall impression:
Body is straight but is need of some finishing work, IE sanding waxing and a little paint.
Great tires, brakes, drive-train, tranny, clutch
Motor is solid, 100psi on both rotors
It has no hot or cold starting issues.
Im also stoked that everything works!!!!
- All the wiper settings and rear wiper
- Heater controls
- Cruise control
- Power windows
- Mirrors
- Sunroof
Its all Money!
Now for the bugs:

After reading in the Nw section, The Spyder responded:
Then here is the most recent update from last nights little session:
So we seem to be on the right track, Eriksseven and 13Bpower and I will start simplifying things soon and hopefully get to the root of the problem.
And get this Seven boosting!
Any tips, ideas or suggestions are greatly appreiated
I'll keep everyone updated
Stay tuned

I have so far:
~Checked the compression (100psi all around)
~Replaced the TPS with a better one and set it perfectly
~Replaced and restabbed the CAS
~Replaced the spark-plugs (it had three NGK 7's and one 9)
~Replaced the fuel-filter (it had a tiny, motorcycle filter)
~Replaced a couple broken vac. lines
~Tightened some loose turbo/IC clamps
~Discovered a broken BAC plug and a bad variable resistor
~Adjusted the small TB 'idle adjust' jam-nut and bolt
~Adjusted the (messed up) Thermowax adjustment screw
To do:
~Set timing with a gun
~Reset TPS again
~Install boost gauge and FCD
~Replace BAC plug and if it doesn't work, replace it
~Replace the pressure sensor and AFM
~Test the coils and plug-wires
~Clean the injectors
~Replace the air-filter and change all the fluids
~Install a full set of block-off plates and fully strip the emissions/TB mod etc.
~Port the turbo's WG and inspect all of it's lines, T/S etc.
~Redo the engine-bay grounds
Right now the TII starts every time on the 2nd or 3rd pulse, idle's very well at 800-900 RPM's, drives very smoothly until 4k RPM's at WOT, but can go to 5k RPM's with no hesitations if driven at 1/2 throttle. It can go to redline with no issues, if taken completely out of boost. (1/4 throttle).
There is MUCH more to do--and in the near future this TII will be amazing.

So I definitely need a leading coil, so if anyone has access to one let me know.
It's was hilarious to see how exited both of us were to see that the coil was bad.
Because every time we find something bad we are relived that it has nothing to do with the motor, just all the unmaintained non-sence attached to it.
We also temped up a boost gauge last night after we adjusted the TPS and shot the Timing. We came to find out when we were able to make boost before
the illusive hesitation would be apparent. So in 3rd and 4th gear rolling smooth into WOT from 3k to 4k it could pull stock boost before the hesitation.
We tried the same in 1st and 2nd it wasn't pulling any boost maybe a pound in 2nd. So then we tried 1st gear from a stop to 5k and sure enough not one psi,
it was basically the same story with 2nd gear too. So it looks like the twin scroll is inactive as-well.
We will have to test that to confirm it 100% but both of us have a feeling that the PO or who ever tampered with it before
definitely left dome things disconnected or simply things are frozen from not working properly.
The truth of the matter is fact that everything PO might of tried to do or replace, it has protected this motor rather then messing it up.
The PO and the person he bought it from has probably been driving this thing as a friggin' 4 port N/A for quite a long time from the looks of things.
So in a nutshell their Failure gave me and my friends the opportunity to Succeed

I'm willing to say that re running the grounds and cleaning your injectors would probably be two of the biggest factors in your hesitation problem aside from the coil.

Keep Right Except to Pass
I didn't see anything in there about fuel pump voltages or fuel pressures. FPR operating like it should?
Something to check as it sounds like the problem is occurring where lots of fuel is needed.
I would leave the FCD out of it until you iron out the hesitation.
Cheers

To simplify:
When we got the idle down to 800 RPM's and attempted to shoot the timing, the gun would "*flash* very sporadically, indicating a terrible misfiring.
So yeah, the car is misfiring like crazy, not burning it's fuel, backfiring on decelleration AND acceleration and it cannot build boost because of the unburnt fuel and hesitations.
Can someone provide a basic list as to what needs to be checked when diagnosing a 'misfiring system'? (for all you Initial D'rs out there)

Crazy misfiring, leading to insane backfiring, doesn't appear to be the coils at this point. Spark plugs are bran new. Could be the spark wires, could be the wiring, could be the ecu.... who knows at this point.
