Pic updates of my project car

Updated the pics on the page with some new ones. Its getting very close to starting now. Have had problems with the ignition and no spark getting to the plugs. I'm getting another distributor today and a presilencer. Some of you in Alabama might hear it start today since the header is the only exhaust piece installed so far.

Do you have the weight of that car by chance??? Also what is the "1988 Type R" transmission that you used in the Miata, and what truck did you get the final drive from (4.44)? And finally will it work in an RX7 (would it be worthwhile...street drivable)?

The miata belongs to a friend of mine. The transmission is an 87 TII unit. The 4.44 gear is from a Mazda 4x4 truck. Not sure which year. Will not work without major modification. Most of us 2nd gen guys are stuck with the 4.30 rear gear at the best. Its expensive to get any higher gear but can be done.

I think it was meant to accept an insert.

I don't have the seat cover yet. I could autocross with out the cover but I'm not doing it. That is the Kirkey Pro Drag Seat. I'll be getting the Intermediate seat eventually. My elbows hit the sides of the seat when moving the steering wheel left-right-left like in a slalom. It will make a nice passenger seat thou.

did you really replace the crank angle sensor with a distributer? COOL

Is this a "must be carbed to meet racing rules" car ??

No porting, yet.
No turbo as that would put me in a different class.
Haven't weighed it yet but I'm hoping for a running weight of around 2200# +/- some.
More pics later. When I get it started I'll have a short mpeg of it running with only the header on it. I haven't made it to the muffler shop yet.

I didn't want to keep any of the factory harness so I had to use the 12A distributor. I can run FI and will eventually reinstall the CAS and probably get a used Haltech or something similiar. But for now, the carb is on loan from a friend.
