PIC INSIDE....Whats this oil on the turbo

In the pic....shows oil sitting on the turbo charger!

does this mean that the turbo oil seal is gone?

the turbo needs oil to operate smoothly..if you had a leaking seal pretty sure you would see more oil than that...also check your dp..if that has oil build up in it then you prob have a failing seal

What???

The oil cannot get into that part of the turbo by normal means. There is nothing before it but the AFM and filter.

But......is the car stock?

The PCV system can cause oil to be in the inlet of the compressor side if there is excessive oil in the system. Have you been beating on it lately? That could be one reason for it.

Also, you will not see much oil in the DP. The heat would cook the oil and you would not be able to see it, at least not like it is in the pics.

What I think you meant to say is, if there is excess oil in the intercooler inlet then you might have a seal going bad in the turbo.

Outtie, I'm drunk.

If the compressor-side seal has eaten ****, then the compressor housing will fill itself with oil, blowing it all through your intake.

BUT - with that little oil, I would blame the PCV system. Just wipe it out and keep going.

alittle oil is normal, you will see some film in the intercooler pipes as wel. But if your smoking, sounds like your rear seal took a dump

Yeah, the turbine seal in my turbo is shot to hell, and at idle it blows blue smoke like you are describing. Either rebuild or replace the turbo.
