performance n/a

what would you guys do to a 1990 GXL to get it some extra power?
i don't have enough money or experience for a t2 swap yet, but i want to know what you guys would do to it other than that.
i love what you guys have done with your 7s and hope to get mine there sooner or later

There not much you can do with an N/a to get crazy power unless you start doing some wild porting. You can do the breather mods like intake and exhuast. maybe some pineapple racing sleeves

-Intake
-Exhaust
-Tuning: RTek or SAFC, leaning out the A/F ratio usually nets a bit of power on n/a's
-Add lightness (not really practical on a street car)

That's about all you can do without taking the motor apart.

Haha true. But for the price of a standalone you could be awfully close to a TII swap.

Revised list:
-Intake
-Exhaust

OP: Either way, it's going to cost alot, it's up to you to pick your poison. I'd go with a TII swap, it's a lot less painful to make power and leaves you more room to grow while retaining the most drivability.

Or, you could get yourself some suspension and enjoy the car in the twisties.

i'm thinking about getting Racing beat Mufflers, and make a dual exhaust from the catback custom from 3in pipes welded together [like sunburn did here]

then what would you recommend for an intake? is a secret weapon from weaponR be a good choice? website

i'm not up for a porting cause i want to do a turbo swap later in life, just have parts i can carry over.

thanks for your guys input, don't want to make the wrong choices now

To get more go out of you NA

Recommend:
1. K&N drop in filter so your car inhales easier. Can carry over. Cone filter only if you also install some sort of closeout panel to shield your intake from engine heated air.
2. RB downpipe and presilencer so your car exhales easier (forget the headers). Can maybe carry over the presilencer
3. Aluminum or Lightened Steel flywheel so more HP gets past it to your wheels. Can't carry over, wrong size.
4. Maybe an Apexi Super AFC for a more sophisticated leaning out. Can carry over, but wouldn't advise it by itself. An AFC doesn't do anything about timing.
5. Maybe a GTUs rear diff for the higher gear ration (warning, kills MPG). Can carry it over.

Don't recommend. Personal taste thing only:
1. Changing your exhaust cans will do little to improve your "go" all by themselves. But you can carry them over.

2. Stripping things from your car to reduce weight, unless it will be a dedicated track car. Kills the resale value of your car and performance gain is minimal compared to any of my recommended 1-5.

That's about it.
