performance Exhaust question

So I have an 86 n/a. And I want to put a cat-back exhaust on it.

this system is the one I want but it says the muffler type is turbo. Will this still work with my n/a?

no.. it will be too long to bolt onto the end of your cat... but if you gut part of the pipe and weld it to your cat it will fit jsut fine.

ummm...unless I'm mistaken turbo and NA cat-back systems are pretty interchangeable. You're real problem is that turbo exhausts are made to flow more and you'll loose necessary exhaust velocity needed on an NA, resulting in some loss in power. But looking at that one it looks like it might not be too bad.....

If you get rid of your pre cats you'll have more power with your stock exhaust. It was like that when I had my header on. The level of exhaust will get loud!!!

goto a exhaust shop and have them replace your mufflers with two "turbo" mufflers. will probably cost < $200

then gut both your precats and replace all the gaskets.

you want the best? it's retarded loud.

log onto ebay and buy the ssautochrome 3" turbo back single side exhaust. then buy a pacesetter header. install that on your car and jbweld in the silencer. next sell the downpipe for $100 and enjoy your car.

Manufacturers tend to give their mufflers a "turbo" description if they do not have much noise suppression. This is because a turbine soaks up a lot of noise from the engine (up to about 40%), and therefore a turbocharged car does not require a quiet muffler to maintain the same sound level as a non-turbo car. Your non-turbo car will be pretty loud with a "turbo" muffler.

turbo muffler is straight through they're like $30

I've never noticed a increase in sound. with the stock exhaust manifold and cat these cars are pretty quiet.
