Anybody attempted to make an old school intercooler?

I have been trying to find a resonable priced, good condition old school hks or greddy intercooler but it seems like they are in high demand and there aren't many of them floating around. So has anybody attempted to custom make one? I found this intercooler on ebay that is setup correctly, but i have no clue what size the greddy core is. Here is the link to the auction.

the core is the easy part, its the pipes you need to figure out.
The best scenario is you know someone who can help you weld, bend, and cut everything so that you end up with a minimal amount of couplers

I realize the core is the easy part, i'm just wondering if anybody has used this core and if it fits. Anybody know the demensions of the hks or greddy core used in the kits?

All of the intercooler setups i see are the ones that enter on the passanger side and exit the drivers side. That seems way easier then what i am thinking about trying. There's not really a straight shot to the throttle body from the passanger side.

What makes these cores so bad about heat soaking?

Ci mon, at least when you are trying to keep the A/C and power steering. Is that a Trust?

the outlet would normally be aimed towards the passenger side, this one was modified to run along the drivers side, picture the outlet facing the other way.
